Provisional calendar computed from the standing rules (Presidential Decree 79/2017: lessons start on 11 September or the next working day, Christmas break 24 December – 7 January, Easter break from Holy Monday to the Friday after Easter, lessons end on 15 June). The Ministry confirms the exact dates with its annual circular.

Frequently asked questions

The school year opens on 11 September or the next working day. In 2027–2028 the first day is 13 September 2027 and lessons start on 14 September 2027.

The Christmas break always runs from 24 December to 7 January. In 2027–2028 pupils return on 10 January 2028.

The Easter break runs from Holy Monday to the Friday after Easter. In 2027–2028 that is 10 – 23 April 2028, and lessons resume on 24 April 2028.

Nursery and primary schools hold lessons until 15 June (15 June 2028 in 2027–2028). Gymnasia and lyceums finish in late May, on dates set each year by the Ministry.
