Greece has 12 public holidays in 2026: 9 mandatory holidays for every workplace, plus Clean Monday, Good Friday and Whit Monday, which close public services, schools and banks. 7 of the mandatory holidays fall on weekdays.

Orthodox Easter Sunday is on 12 April 2026. Good Friday is 10 April, Easter Monday is 13 April and Clean Monday, the start of Lent, is 23 February.

No. Greek holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday are not transferred, with one exception: when 1 May coincides with a Sunday, Holy Week or Easter Monday, the Minister of Labour may move it to another working day by decision.
